A New Era of Coffee

I’ve always been a coffee lover. I used to only drink it with cream and sugar, but as I’ve worked to cultivate my taste to more discerning levels, I’ve learned to only drink black coffee, so that I can truly appreciate the savory aromas and bittersweet flavors of a good blend. I still remember stopping at Dunkin’ Donuts most mornings on my way to work or bringing my son to school for my daily fix of fine Arabica. And of course whenever seasonal flavors and iced lattes came out, that was a fantastic treat that I jumped on in a heartbeat. This was the foundation for what was to become an even more thrilling romance with coffee.

About four or five years ago I saw a commercial for the Tassimo BrewBot, and my interest was instantly grabbed. I thought of how truly marvelous it would be to have several different flavors of coffee available at any given moment throughout the day. And these were professional blends of coffee straight from big name brewers! I couldn’t wait to hop on the internet and dig into researching this wonder of technology.

It didn’t take too long for me to discover that there were other brands of this type of machine out there. One in particular caught my attention: the Keurig. I found out that although the several different blends of coffee was my main advocation for picking up my own single serve coffee brewer, the Keurig was where all the best brewers went. The blend that worked with the Keurig weren’t limited to under ten. There were dozens that I could choose from! And after time, as we all know, dozens turned into hundreds, possibly thousands.

I’m not one who instantly hops on a bandwagon as soon as I hear about it. I like to take my time to fully research a new idea that I’m interested in before I dump my money into it. Then once I’ve made my decision about what my product of choice will be, I do even more digging into finding the best deal possible, whether it means standing in line in a store with coupons in hand, or biding my time for just the right time to buy online when the price has dropped to its lowest point.

Over my time of waiting and researching, I watched as choices of coffees turned into choices of teas, fruit drinks, and pretty much any hot drink you can think of. Now although my whole reason for getting into this new concept was for the coffee, my husband has never been a big coffee drinker, preferring iced teas and punches. And since I also enjoy the occasional hot tea when I’m down with a cold or just on a cozy rainy day, this gave me all the more justification for going ahead with my purchase.

I won’t go into all the specifics about the Keurig and my experience with it here. You can check out the full article of my review here. I will tell you, however, that for better or worse, I love it. There are a few quirks that you have to get used to like how to clean it properly and regularly, and how to unclog it whenever a K-Cup breaks inside the machine. Nonetheless the convenience of having a dozen different coffees handy all the time is amazing. No matter what I’m in the mood for, I’ve always got my favorites choices of coffees, teas, and other drinks just like I would in a cafĂ©. And since you can order all your blends of choice online makes it all that much easier. In fact, I’ve gone so far as to set up a standing order with Green Mountain to deliver a present amount of my staple drinks every month. That way I don’t have to worry about a thing for most drinks.

The mixture of all this convenience and great tasting coffee makes all the research I’ve done 100% worth the time. And saving all the money is an added bonus. In fact I love it all so much, I’ve decided to create this website. I’m not anybody special, and I realize that there are hundreds of other people out there writing about exactly the same things, but I think that if I can help even just a couple of people find the wonder of owning a single cup brewer (or even just learn more about them) by doing all the research and price comparisons for them, I’ve done a good thing.

Coffee isn’t just a nice drink for me. It’s a treat, it’s a hobby, and it’s a passion. It can truly be something special for a lot of people. But I’m still new at this. I’ve got a lot of ideas of what to talk about and products to review, but I’d still love to hear from my readers. Please leave a comment below or send me an email telling me what you’d like to know more about.

Thanks for reading and happy brewing!
